Hungry for Fashion: Rankin’s Hunger Magazine Celebrates 5 Years

On  21st March,  Rankin’s  Hunger Magazine  celebrated its  5th birthday  with its 10th issue  being released.
To highlight the diversity of content, birthday year, changes in look and style, the issue features 5  different  covers. It’s also the first time ever that Rankin himself hasn’t shot the cover, instead choosing to  undertake  collaborations with an eclectic mix of stylists, photographers and creative minds. Rankin is still involved, of course, but this time, assuming a more curatorial role within the magazine.
Rankin launched his biannual music, fashion, culture and lifestyle magazine after co-founding  Dazed & Confused, and  AnOther, all of which are still  independently  published – which is rare in the competitive (and expensive!) world of magazine publishing.  The point of creating  Hunger  was to celebrate that innate creative drive that we all possess, and that some thrive on and harness to push culture forward.
Cover stars for this issue include Raury (shot by Shelby Duncan), Kristen Wiig   (shot  by Ben Morris), Maddie Ziegler  (shot by David Roemer), Rosie Huntington Whiteley  (shot by Dusan Reljin) and Jack O’Connell  (captured by Rankin). The issue also features  Beth Ditto,  Nadia Lee Cohen,  Maisie Cousins,  Will Poulter,  Tinie Tempah  and  Maurizio Cattelan  to name a few.
For its 5th birthday, the five things Hunger says they still want to do are:
1 Meet more of our heroes. Â 2 Watch more of the people we feature go interstellar. Â 3 Feature Kanye… he’s a mad genius and we want to separate fact from fiction. Â 4 Make loads more films and videos and cross them over with the print mag. Â 5 Have as much fun in the next five years as we did in the last five!
As our gift to them, we’ve listed five reasons we love Hunger: 1 Creatively inspires us with its wonderful shoots. 2 Presents unique information and interviews of the kind you rarely see elsewhere. 3 Rankin is a strong supporter of those in need through his help with Oxfam RED. 4 They often feature the Best of British culture and fashion. 5 It’s independent media, which we think is highly important in a democracy (but is disappearing!)
To celebrate the issue, we thought we would share with you some of the amazing photography from this publication, which is always dedicated to showcasing all that’s new, innovative and creative in the world of fashion, culture and photography.
