The Coupelon family of Paris share two great passions: one is for China, and the other is for great design.
It all began when architects Richard and Tita Coupelon began travelling to India, Nepal, and China in the 1980s. Â
Enthralled by what they saw, they launched a shop in Paris, full of decorative objects they discovered on their trips.
Growing up surrounded by these precious artefacts, their daughter, Laurence, developed a taste for all things Asian and moved to China to study, work, and collect beautiful materials from that country, including mother of pearl, glass beads, turquoise, petrified wood, crystals and stones.
She then fashioned these natural materials into accessories based on the designs of the exotic (and in some cases, threatened) ethnic tribes she discovered living in Asia, and Cesaree Jewellery was born.
The result is a modern, bold collection of necklaces, bracelets and earrings, all transforming what would normally be pretty but simple products of geology into magnificent objects  d’art.  .
These statement pieces soon caught the attention of some of Europe’s greatest designers, including Cerrutti, Kenzo and Sonia Rykiel, and Laurence was requested by many great fashion houses to show his jewellery on the catwalks of the world’s capitals.
Currently sold in Paris in a boutique on St Germain des Pres’s chic rue Dragon, Cesaree’s accessories can also be viewed and bought  here. Â
