Hey, petal! Fresh As A Daisy. Frosted Rose. Summer Geranium. – these are just a few of the names I’ve seen given to lipstick shades. It’s pretty clear that makeup manufacturers are pretty much perpetually inspired by the beauty of blooms; this is probably especially true for natural makeup makers, who often not only name their creations after flowers, but include floral oils and waters in their formulations, too.
Working with stylist Marion de Waard, Eluxe presents to you a floral themed beauty shoot, focused on the fabulousness of flowers. Marion worked with a bouquet of shades to ensure that every skin tone could benefit from some of our selections from the world’s best clean beauty brands, used to create these fresh, natural makeup looks.
Perhaps the most obvious floral inspiration for makeup is the rose – not only due to its delicious scent, but because it comes in so many shades: white, yellow, pink and a whole rainbow of reds. Here, we’ve chosen to go with the most romantic of rose shades: blush pink.
Blusher/Eyeshadow: Zuii Organic Diamond Sparkle Blush, Lipgloss: Lisa Noto Lipgloss in Only You, Lipstick: Ilia Organic Neon Angel Brow pencil: Zuii Organics Flora Eyebrow Definer, Mascara: 100% Pure Ultra Lengthening Mascara in Dark Chocolate. Eye shadow: Jouer Ready to Wear Palette (pink) with 100% Pure Pretty Naked Illume Eclat (gold)
They say there’s a shade of pink for every complexion, which is why we picked this hue. It works best on complexions without golden undertones, so whether your skin tone is as fair as a Viking maiden’s or as dark as an African Queen’s, this pink will make your lips pop!
Lipstick: Matt ‘n’ Pink by Lavera Blusher: Zuii Organic Diamond Sparkle Blush Lipgloss: Lotus Pure Organics Natural Lipgloss. Foundation: Ilia Sheer Tinted Moisturiser in Los Roques. Eyeshadow: 100% Pure Pretty Naked Illume Eclat (gold) and Jouer Ready to Wear Palette (pink).
Purple flowers are sometimes the most beautiful: think tiny lilacs, delicate pansies and wild chrysanthemums. They’re not the most common of flowers, so it stands to reason that this shade is not for the most typical of girls. This gently purple hue has a hint of blue in it, making it the idea choice for the girl who dares to be a little bit different.
Lipstick: Axiology in Enlighten Blusher: 100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Mauvette Blush. Eyeshadow: 100% Pure Pretty Naked Illume Eclat (gold) and Jouer Ready to Wear Palette (pink). Mascara: 100% Pure Ultra Lengthening Mascara in Dark Chocolate. White Eyeliner: Inika White Crystal. Foundation: Ilia Sheer Tinted Moisturiser in Los Roques.
Tempting Tiger Lily
Orange is definitely having a makeup moment right now. It goes well with a fading tan, but also hints that we’re about to embrace the autumnal weather that’s around the corner. Paler and darker skin tones can go with a bolder, primary orange; golden complexions should go with slightly golden undertones, shown in the look below.
Lipstick: Nu Evolution Evolve Highlighter: Vapour Beauty Trick Stick in Dazzle Mascara: 100% Pure Ultra Lengthening Mascara in Dark Chocolate. White Eyeliner: Inika White Crystal. Foundation: Ilia Sheer Tinted Moisturiser in Los Roques. Eye shadow: Gia Minerals Copper and Coral and 100% Pure Pretty Naked Illume Eclat (gold). Lipgloss: Lotus Pure Organics Natural Lipgloss
Exotic beaches, summertime, rum cocktails – those are but a few of my associations with red hibiscus flowers. These bold beauties are the disco queens of the flower world -bold, beautiful, and all about the good times! Makeup in hibiscus shades reflects that, too. These colours are not for wallflowers…
Lipstick: Hynt Beauty Red Fervor (also on eyes, mixed with oil). Eyeshadow (under eye): 100% Pure Pretty Naked Illume Eclat.White Eyeliner: Inika White Crystal Shimmery Lipgloss: Lisa Noto Only You, Blusher: Zuii Organic Diamond Sparkle Blush, Highlighter: Vapour Beauty Trick Stick in Dazzle, Mascara: 100% Pure Ultra Lengthening Mascara in Dark Chocolate. Foundation: Ilia Sheer Tinted Moisturiser in Los Roques.
