With the mercury practically bursting thermometers in the northern hemisphere this summer, millions are flocking to the seaside, which means packing an eco-friendly bathing suit is a must.
But what will it be? A sporty one piece? Padded bikini? Thong? Halter top? Bandeau?
As a beach-loving California native, Vanessa Rivers was often faced with this fashion dilemma. After experimenting with a few designs, she believes she’s found a bathing suit style that suits just about everyone.
Called the ‘Butterfly Cut, ‘ the shape has come to define River’s eco-swimwear company, Happy Endingz. Butterfly Cut tops consists of a classic triangle shape, which is fully adjustable–you can slide the bra to fit the way you prefer: if you want more cleavage and less coverage, you can hike the strings up around your neck and scrunch up the triangles on the bottom string. Feeling more modest? Spread the fabric out!
For the bottoms, Rivers chose a semi-ruched , half-French knicker that she believes flatters every bottom. Again, the fit is adjustable via long, flowing side ribbons.
Best of all is that the entire line is made from 100% Repreve Recycled Nylon, which is made from left over nylon trimmings that are recovered and diverted from landfills. Rivers claims the material is not only ‘butter soft,’ but is also one of the eco-friendliest bikini materials available.
But the brand’s dedication to the environment doesn’t stop there. All their hang tags are made from 100% post consumer recycled paper, and their shipping envelopes are made from 80% post consumer recycled materials.
Initially starved for cash, the company was given a capital injection via Kickstarter, and is now renowned as one of the sexiest eco-swimwear labels available. A truly Happy Ending for eco-swimwear lovers everywhere!
