This week, our beloved intern, Maria Woncisz, takes this space over to give her impressions of one of the best known names in English organic skincare, CheryLin. Here’s what she had to say about Chery Lin’s Nourishing Cleansing Balm, Rose Night Care and Rose and Lavender Body Oil.
Step 1: Cleanse
I never used a cleansing balm in my cleansing routine but CheryLin’s Nourishing Cleansing Balm proved to be a great replacement for daily use in care of my skin. This gentle cleanser comes in a beautiful thick glass jar like other beauty products in the CheryLin range. As soon as I opened the lid I could smell a beautiful and fresh floral scent, dominated by pungent lavender, and no wonder: this product contains extracts of lavender, sunflower, castor oil, olive oil and almonds, all of which help strengthen and nourish the skin. The diverse properties of the 100% all natural ingredients have a great effect on all types of skin and help soothe inflamed areas.
The texture of the CheryLin balm is quite oily and thick but non-adhesive. I suggest using an ear bud to take out the balm on to your hand and massaging it a little to warm it up. As soon as the texture becomes more liquid, apply it onto your face and neck and massage in circular motion. A couple of minutes are enough to cleanse and nourish your skin. Removing the balm with a damp cotton wool doesn’t always fully clean your face so I suggest rinsing it with water as well, before applying a moisturiser of your choice.
I have to admit to having problems with finding the right products for combination skin and I need to be very careful about using anything new. CheryLin’s Nourishing Cleanser Balm left my skin looking a lot softer and visibly improved its condition. I truly recommend including this product in your cleansing routine because after daily usage for around two weeks it made my skin significantly softer and despite my initial fears, it didn’t make it oily at all.
Step 2: Moisturise
Luxury Rose Night Care balm is my favorite product from the range. Its exquisite rose scent is almost addictive, and applying the balm every evening before going to sleep is a true pleasure.
The texture of the night balm is almost identical to that of the cleanser: though it is a bit lighter, it shares the same waxy base with an oily finish. This balm, rich in a variety of floral and vanilla scents, significantly moisturises and regenerates skin overnight. You needn’t worry about putting excessive amounts on, because once it is spread across the face in circular motions, it gets partially absorbed, but by the time you wake up in the morning there is no trace of it, except in the visible glow of your skin.
Step 3: Bathe
I added the Rose and Lavender Body Oil to a bath, and it turned a simple soak into what was almost a spa-level experience. The scent of rose is heavy here, and when I dried off, the perfume was still on my skin. It should be emphasised that this derives from organic rose oil–which is to say that you can still smell delicious without the use of chemical perfumes.
I added a few dabs of the oil onto my shins, to moisturise my legs, and into my cuticles and nails to give them a shine, and felt and smelt beautiful for the rest of the day.
I’d recommend using Chery Lin products to anyone with a skin condition (especially since the founder started the company to deal with her own), sensitive skin, or to woman who just loves great organic skincare.
