Kate Moss, Jerry Hall, Rihanna and even Beyonce have it. You can get it whether you’re young or old, fat or thin. Women get it more than men, due to our greater abundance of fat-storing hormones. Yep, we’re talking cellulite.
No matter how hard you work out, to some extent our genetics will determine how much cellulite you are susceptible to. Some of us are just destined to have more than others, no matter how hard we kick it in the gym (or onstage, in Rihanna and Queen Bey’s case). But luckily, there are ways to get rid of cellulite naturally – or at the very least, reduce its appearance.
5 Ways To Get Rid of Cellulite Naturally
1. Diet
Eating a low-fat diet of lean protein paired with loads of high quality vegetables will help not only lose body fat but prevent further excess fat from being stored in your body. Lowering your carb and sugar intake, as well as reducing how much processed food and alcohol you consume will also help. Reducing your saturated fat intake and eating oily fish high in Omega-3 will also help to improve your body’s circulation, which can diminish cellulite.
2. Strength Training
By firming the muscles underneath your layer of cellulite, you can help to smooth out the appearance of your skin. Focus on exercises that build muscle in places that tend to get cellulite; namely your quads, buttocks, hips and hamstrings – if your skin is pulled tightly over your toned muscles, there won’t be any room for dimpling! Not sitting still for too long, alternating your shower between hot and cold and stretching with yoga or Pilates also helps.
PS: Although cardio won’t target your cellulite directly, it will help you to burn fat, lose weight, and improve the appearance of your cellulite as well as your confidence.
3. At Home Treatments
Cellulite removal lasers are the only methods that have been clinically proven to be effective in removing cellulite, by targeting cellulite beneath the skin and breaking it down with naturally occurring Radio Frequency and InfraRed light. If a salon treatment will break the bank, why not try a home cellulite treatment like Assome!’s new Ultransonic Massager. It uses the same InfraRed and Radiofrequency as clinical treatments, and also comes with a 3-month supply of conductive gel – by the end of which you’ll be cellulite free!
4. Massage
Massaging your problem areas firmly is believed to reduce the appearance of cellulite by breaking down the toxins and fat cells that have built up beneath the skin. However, this process can be long, gruelling, and a little bit painful – you will need to massage your legs and butt frequently and HARD. Grab a rolling pin and start massaging with this method, below. If you do it often and hard enough, you will soon see a difference!
5. Endermologie
Endermologie is a skin treatment that combines massaging, rolling and sucking at the skin to break up fat cells that cause cellulite and dimpling. The technology in the CELLU M6® Alliance activates the natural processes of your body and help your skin become healthier from the inside out. The treatment reactivates your synthesis of collagen and also helps to drain excess fluid in your tissues, break down fats, and accelerate the capillary development of your blood cells. Elastin and hyaluronic acid is then applied to re-densify your skin.
The process combines the three separate procedures – rolling, flap, and suction. The flap treatment stimulates the skin in both vertical and horizontal directions. The flap head on the machine is able to target different depths of your skin and activates your body’s natural chemicals. Rolling and suction combine to create a nice massage that uses your bodies physiological responses deeper within the skin to target those subcutaneous fat cells (it tones your cellulite). The roll head has two autonomous rollers that can move at separate speeds and turn independently too. The CELLU M6® Alliance takes rolling, flapping, and suctioning and integrates it with Alliance Skin Identity, a sensor for that makes your treatment entirely personalised. It is adaptable and can target specific areas that are normally more resistant to treatment, like your back and neck.
The best part is the Alliance treatment is completely pain-free, and chemical free, too. The feeling you get during the treatment is a little intense, and the course of treatments isn’t really cheap, but the results are worth it.
