Valentine’s Day may be over, but my obsession with heart-red lipsticks is eternal, and fortunately, Tuesday in Love has them in spades.
Following on the international success of their 4-free water permeable nail polish collection, Tuesday in Love has launched a collection of luxury lipsticks and eye shadow trios – just in time for the month of love. They took their 10 most popular nail polish colours as inspiration to create 10 beautiful matching lipsticks.
Housed in luxe matte black square tubes – with their signature romantic pink hand scripted logo, the lipsticks are available in three finishes: cream, high-gloss, and matte. The collection of red, pink, purple, and nude hues contain nourishing ingredients including aloe, apricot kernel oil, and natural vanilla extract. The eyeshadow trios are composed of pressed mineral pigments moulded with vegetable-origin fats.
Tuesday in Love cosmetics are never tested on animals, contain no animal fats or by-products, and are free from harsh chemicals including: parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrances, synthetic dyes, petrochemicals, phthalates, GMOs (genetically modified organisms), and triclosan.
Being a socially conscious brand, for each cosmetic sold, the company donates a portion of the proceeds to Plan Canada’s Because I am a Girl Initiative, which helps support the over 4 million girls living in poverty in the developing world.
Tried and Tested
I tried two lipsticks representing two colour extremes: nude and of course, a deeply romantic red. I applied the lipsticks to test their pigmentation, and then gently blotted with a tissue to simulate the colour-fade effect. You will first notice the indulgent yet subdued natural vanilla scent when you rotate the lipstick up from the tube, then as you glide the lipstick across your lips, you will notice how light and moisturising the texture feels.
Fresh Cut [a pale beige hue] is a high-gloss finish lipstick, pigmented, and long-lasting. This colour fades to create a pale flesh matte lip colour. Fresh Cut also has a slight peach undertone that is the perfect compliment to my favourite smokey eye look for day or night (Tuesday in Love has made a fabulous eye-shadow palette called Silver Linings). Fresh Cut was inspired by the matching Tuesday in Love nail polish in Swiftly Taylored.
The red lippy, called Seriously is a cream finish lipstick that is pigmented in one swipe, but I then used a lip brush to seal the lipstick along my natural lip-line by gently pressing the lip brush to create a polished lip liner effect. The colour is long-lasting but this one fades to create a divine raspberry-hued lip-stain look. Seriously is fabulous for a bold day look, or for creating a glam evening look with a cat-eye liner flick. Seriously was inspired by the matching YOLO nail polish, well, since you seriously do only live once.
Both of these lipsticks were easy to remove with natural olive oil. Apply a few drops of olive oil to a cotton round, and wipe off the remaining lipstick colour (the oil acts as a nourishing lip balm too!). Overall, these are fabulous lipsticks which are an eco-friendly alternative to the synthetic “plastic” formulas on the market.
All 10 lipsticks are available individually or with their corresponding nail polish duos, plus a bonus top coat. The eyeshadow trios come in black glitter boxes, which can double as storage for your cosmetics stash. So this Tuesday, and everyday after that, treat your lips, eyes, and nails to indulgent healthy Tuesday in Love cosmetics – you will love.
