Ok, I have to admit – I was of two minds with regards to posting this article. On the one hand, we’ve written about the merits of Buy Nothing Day many times in this magazine, and I’m a strong proponent of only buying what you need, when you need it. On the other hand, many readers of Eluxe Magazine have told me or written to me to say they’re bummed out that they can’t afford sustainable fashion or organic beauty products.
Well, maybe the fact that there are several sustainable brands on sale this Black Friday can help.
That’s not to say I’m suggesting you should go out there in a consumerist frenzy and buy, buy buy! I’m just saying that if you can’t normally afford ethical fashion or clean beauty brands, or if you want to stock up on eco-friendly basics or buy your loved ones sustainable gifts for the holidays but don’t have much budget, now is your chance.
Here’s my pick of some of the best sustainable brands on sale this Black Friday. Happy shopping!

The shop: A leader in the clean beauty space, 100 Percent Pure lives up to its name with its wide variety of natural beauty products including makeup and skincare. Not only is everything they create free from artificial colouring, fragrance, and synthetic preservatives, but they work wonderfully, as well! Tip: their coffee bean eye cream and fruit pigmented lipsticks are huge favourites here at Eluxe.
Best for: Gathering all your beauty basics for the coming year.
The shop: Most of Sephora’s stock is pretty doused in chemicals, but they do carry a few great clean beauty brands, including Vapour Beauty, Axiology and Kjaer Weiss, making this an easy online stop for clean cosmetics.
Best for: Getting stuff to gift to all your beauty-addict friends and family members.
The shop: This is your one-stop-shop for all your beauty needs, from toothpaste and bath products to makeup and fragrance. Not everything here is non-toxic, but there is a wide range of clean beauty brands, including Herbivore, Eminence Skincare, REN and many more.
