Noblesse Oblige: The Noble Project

By Sophia Hussain

The typical slogan T-shirt is desired for what it says, but in the case of the Noble Project, the tee is more covetable for what it does.

Founded in 2010 in Hamburg, Germany, the international charity fashion label collaborates with artists, designers, actors and musicians who create unique T-shirt designs.

The  Fair Trade, organic cotton tees are then sold through selected  multi-brand boutiques and department stores, and every purchase of a Noble Project product  helps to improve the working and living conditions of their farmers and producers who created  the cotton for the collection.

Among the participating collaborators are Paris-based Swedish fashion designer  and illustrator Lovisa Burfitt, German jewellery designer Saskia Diez, German actress (and  daughter of music legend Nina Hagen) Cosma Shiva Hagen, and German innovative luxury  cosmetics brand uslu airlines, by Jan Mihm and Feride Uslu.

But the Noble Project doesn’t stop at tees– to celebrate the launch of the Taschen book by Mario Testino on British supermodel Kate Moss, the Noble  Project and uslu airlines makeup collaborated to create a lipstick called ‘NOB’ (airport code for Nosara  Beach in Costa Rica). This perfect, bright red hue was inspired by Kate’s lips in one of Testino’s shots, seen below.

Come to think of it, that would  be a fabulous idea for a t-shirt design too.
