Lacy. Delicate. Sexy as hell. No wonder the ethically crafted lingerie brand Studio Pia has become popular with huge A-listers – we’re talking Madonna, Beyoncé and Britney Spears, here!
Handcrafted by British artisans from peace silk and other highly sustainable fabrics, Studio Pia’s bras, suspenders and knickers are each sewn with great attention to detail. For example, all its peace silk is produced in Jharkhand, India, where disadvantaged local communities are fairly employed, and are taught how to cultivate the silk cocoons organically, without harming the worms within. The precious gold embroidery you’ll find on some pieces is sewn in France by hands that also craft haute couture.
In fact, you could call Studio Pia’s pieces ‘hot’ couture, given that their designs are fashioned to showcase the female form in a manner that’s sexy without being vulgar: there are push-up bras to highlight the bosom, panties cut to flatter bottoms of all sizes, and even a rather kinky range that suggests the art of Japanese bondage.
The Bridal Edit
The most recent Studio Pia lingerie collection is The Bridal Edit, worthy of a newly wedded queen. The inspiration came when the founder was planning her own wedding in Cyprus — the island of love. It felt like the perfect time to create a bridal capsule collection of mix and match pieces for the big day, the wedding night and beyond, all whilst staying true to the brand’s ethical principles.
“My vision was to design a collection of creative, investment pieces, which challenge preconceptions about ethical fashion aesthetics, and provide my customer with timeless luxury she can feel good about showing off.” says Pia.
This nuptial capsule collection draws inspiration from the decadence and intricacies of the Art Nouveau period, particularly focussing on Gustav Klimt’s gold phase. Designs build on the most successful elements of the Pia’s debut collection, ‘Jungle,’ transforming bespoke French embroidery with a Midas touch.
The bridal collection features two ranges: Bella — which accentuates the curves, enveloping the body in fully silk-lined luxury — and Soraya, whose gilded embroidery adorns the body with intricate craft, for a luxuriously indulgent look. The ivory gold base is decorated with 24k gold plated hardware that adds a decadent touch.
This sweetly sustainable lingerie capsule collection includes longline bras, non-wired soft cups, multiway suspenders and a variety of bottoms options, all of which guarantee a very heated honeymoon!
