International Fashion Designer Sohad Acouri launched his new collection 2014/2015 in a special fashion show within The Middle East Fashion Week, Dubai. Titled “Voyage D’une Star”, the eco-friendly collection is inspired by the lifestyle of the modern woman–always ready and on the move, she makes no compromises to her style and is ready-to-dazzle on all occasions.
As always, Acouri used Eco Friendly high quality raw materials, including silk, velvet and embroidered organza. His cutting technique is also designed to minimise waste, a major issue in the fashion industry on the whole, but especially in couture.
Nature was also a key theme of the designs, as some of the dresses boasted embroidery on the chest inspired by lush foliage and birds in flight, indicating ascent and movement.
One of the ‘stars’ of the show was former Miss Russia, Victoria Lyperova, who first hit the stage with a red jumpsuit accented with black lace, to kick off her journey. She also ended the show in a stunning flesh toned jumpsuit in tulle, heavily embroidered with a Phoenix motif and foliage. The outfit was initially covered up with a long, delicate skirt, and when Lyperova removed it, she raised a few eyebrows in the Arabian crowd, despite the knickers she wore beneath the sheer garment.
Although the theme of “Voyage d’un Star” was meant to point to the Sohad Acouri woman, given the rising popularity of this ecochic designer, we think it could just as easily refer to him, as well!
