Robyn Brooks: Wood, Cork, Bone

By Chere Di Boscio

Robyn Brooks started her namesake company in 2010 after cutting her teeth at Michael Kors, Manolo Blahnik and Kara Ross.

Unfortunately, not everything from this American designer is eco-friendly, but we believe the fact that she uses so many natural materials to wonderful effect makes her Eluxe worthy.

Depending on how it’s fashioned, cork can look a bit low rent. But by adding flecks of gold and silver into the mix, Brooks makes the waterproof and vegan-friendly material look glam beyond anything we could have expected. We love the chunky bangles with bold gold accents, and her Elly Cork clutch is a summer evening wear classic. For exotic holidays, the waterproof quality of the Whitney shopper makes it the perfect tote for the beach.

But forget about the coast: Brook’s style is clearly urban chic, and her delicate cork jewellery not only looks stylish any time of the year, it also makes a statement about just how flexible this eco-friendly material can be.

Now if only Ms Brooks could ensure us that her leather was completely eco-friendly, she would be the All-time Queen of Eco Accessories in our book!
