It’s one of the biggest markets in the world for couture, and now it’s getting the fashion events it deserves.
This October 1 to October 4, Dubai will launch Fashion Week Middle East 2014 at Dubai’s DIFC.
Organised by English Strickland & Associates, the Fashion Week will showcase a mixture of regional and international designers–some of them eco-friendly ones introduced by Eluxe. Ana Katerina Vinkler-Petrovic, for example, will be showcasing her impressive upcycled high jewellery, and Sohad Acouri, the region’s only eco-chic couture designer, will be showing his designs on the catwalk. Cameron Silver, of the LA vintage couture shop, Decades, is one of the event’s guests of honour.
Other notable international designers that are highlighted this season include Charlotte Ronson, the DJ who has created her own range of urban chic fashion, and Betsey Johnson, the queen of punky cool who is another guest of honour, Cameron Silver. Renowned designers Sophie Zinga, Aisha Ramadan and Furne Amato are also confirmed, and A list celebrities including Halle Berry and Heidi Klum.
Fashion Week Middle East will also run an exchange program with New York Fashion Week and Los Angeles Fashion Week, which will allow the event to secure the appearance of two regional designers from the official calendar of one of the two cities.
More information about Fashion Week Middle East to follow here soon–and of course Eluxe will be there, reporting from the front rows of all the shows!
