When Devon Lee Carlson Met Reformation

Devon Lee Carlson told Reformation to come over. And awesome fashion ensued…

By Arwa Lodhi

What do you do when you’re a leading ethical fashion brand, and you realise a certain YouTube sensation is the perfect model for your most recent collection?

Well, you ask her if you can come over and shoot it on her, of course! And that’s exactly what Reformation did with Devon Lee Carlson, at her place.

Called the Come Over Collection, it features all the vintage flair you’d expect from the California based sustainable fashion brand. It’s all showcased beautifully by Devon’s slim frame and energetic, upbeat personality.

In case you’re not yet familiar with Ms Carlson, she’s the co-founder of Wildflower Cases, along with her sister Sydney, and her mom. Aww! The trio create handmade, limited edition cases for phones that are unique to each customer. Seen on Lucy Hale, Kylie Jenner, Giuliana Rancic, and Miley Cyrus and many more,

Wildflower uses unique and limited fabrics they design themselves. She’s also a model and major fashion influencer, with over 750k Instagram followers and 300k+ YouTube subscribers.

Sustainable Fashion

And speaking of fabrics, Reformation takes them very seriously. They constantly seek the most eco-friendly fabrics possible. These include deadstock fabric, organic cotton, recycled polyester, and even recycled wool and cashmere. But that’s not all! Reformation also considers every aspect of a textile’s eco-footprint, from how much water it needs to be produced to its impact on the environment when it’s washed.

If you’re interested in further details of their sustainability, the brand publicly publishes the totals for all the resources they used, saved, and offset.

Called the RefScale, the report tracks Reformation’s environmental footprint  by adding up the pounds of  carbon dioxide  emitted and gallons of water they use, and kilos of waste they generate. They then calculate how their products help reduce these impacts compared with most clothing bought in the USA.

This information is shared on every product page of their website to allow consumers to know exactly what impact each garment has on the environment, allowing customers – like Devon Lee Carlson – to make more empowered choices.

More About Devon

So, now we know Devon Lee Carlson is an influencer who supports sustainable fashion brand Reformation. But what else do we know about her?

Well, for one, her goal as a child was to be a hairstylist or makeup artist. This stems from her love of getting dolled up….as a child!

Yep, that’s right. From the age 4 to 18, she was a competitive dancer. She loved doing the hair and makeup for her entire team. Carlson told Allure: “They would all come with wet hair and I would French braid everyone’s hair into a bun. Every competition, I wanted to make sure everyone’s hair and makeup were perfect. I would sit down with one of the costume officers of our dance team and we would create looks for everyone to do.”

We also know she:

  • Loves tiny tattoos
  • Has a boyfriend
  • Is the sister of popular YouTube vlogger Sydney Carlson
  • Has several small dogs (Chihuahuas?)
  • Is a Leo (born  3, 1994)
  • Loves rescuing dogs
  • Is a quintessential SoCal girl
  • Defines her style as blending thrifted pieces with designer vintage

So no wonder she was the perfect model for Reformation’s Come Over Collection. It definitely has some luxe thrifted vibes! In fact, we’re not sure what we love more – the Come Over Collection, or how Devon Lee Carlson wears it! It’s casually cool (like Devon herself), and boasts some 70s influence.

The Come Over Collection

As for our choices from the collection, we do have a few preferences. First, we’d go with the provocative, lacy Halo top in black. Or maybe the sweet Paulina top, which comes in a choice of red or white. In any case, both would go beautifully with the corduroy Dillon pants (named after Matt Dillon? Surely not Kevin…?)
