Here’s your yearly horoscope for 2023. Try not to be too shocked!
By Claudia Vannini
Oh my, but this year is going to be quite the roller coaster! Get ready for crazy changes. Like, weekly!
Just like the Moon, which is the ruler of the year, 2023 definitely has its phases.
There are weeks with peak energy and weeks with waning energy. Here’s a brief profile of the year to come.
As the year begins, it may feel like we’re headed in the wrong direction, since both Mars and Mercury will still be retrograde until January 12 and 18 respectively. It can feel like a sigh of relief once they start to move in the right direction again, especially after such a messy end to 2022. Using this month to reflect and integrate all the new changes in our lives might be the best use of our time.
Until mid-May, Jupiter collaborates with innovation and boldness. Invest in courageous ideas. After mid-May, continue more cautiously. Don’t come up with too many new ideas. Try to strengthen what you created in the first few months. Accumulate money in the first 5 months of the year, and hang on to it. The idea is to start creating a financial cushion that will be useful all the way up to the end of 2025. Start getting organized now.
An emotional year
The year has a strong emotional profile. Emotions, perceptions and feelings are often the focus. There’s no point in trying to reason with anyone, because we will start prioritizing emotions and feelings over logic and rules. Keep this in mind when dealing with others. Three outer planets – Saturn, Pluto, and Jupiter – all switch signs this year. It means some definite personal, cultural, and political shifts. While these transitions can lead to uncertainty in our lives, they can also help us find more solid ground.
Conservative Saturn dives into the deep waters of Pisces on March 7 and will stay there for the next three years. As our boundaries slowly melt, and we find more compassion and empathy for others, we need to be sure that our fears of uncertainty don’t stop us from feeling that compassion.
Love goddess Venus takes a step back on July 22 and goes retrograde in Leo, inspiring some reflection about how we give and receive affection. We’ll have to ask ourselves: which of our walls are effective, and which ones hold us back from connection?
Changes in economics and politics
August, September and October bring surprises to the world economy. The United States could undergo governmental changes again, and the entire Planet will react accordingly.
In fact, the next few years could bring massive shifts around politics, community, and technology. We’re entering an era of potential technocracy, so we must be careful we’re not trading the autocratic and corporate rulers of the last decade for even more dangerous AI replacements. It might be wise to schedule regular social media fasts just to make sure we don’t become robots ourselves!
Times to reflect on who we are
The first eclipse of the season shines a light on who we are. This potent Total Solar Eclipse in Aries on April 20 wants us to quit caring so much about what others think, but in order to do so, we may still have some skin to shed. That’s where the Penumbral Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio on May 5 comes in handy.
The more we let go, the more we get to know what’s really important to us. Later in the year, the eclipses will illuminate our true values. October 14 delivers an Annular Solar Eclipse in Libra, followed by a Partial Lunar Eclipse on October 28 in Taurus. Both eclipses are ruled by Venus, highlighting that which brings beauty and meaning into our lives.
Full circle
2023 ends just as it began with a Mercury Retrograde in Capricorn on December 13. This reminds us that after a year of transformation, we need time for our brains to integrate it all. Use this opportunity to recalibrate and reflect on what you want to take with you into the new era of 2024.
And as always, be happy on Earth!
Your Yearly Horoscope For 2023
ARIES
The year promises news at work. It’s time for a promotion or a new job. You may or may not feel ready for this, but trust me – you are! Social groups help you with this transition. Strengthen your networking. Some friendships fall apart in 2023, but good friends – sometimes those you’d least suspect – support you and stay by your side.
As Saturn moves into your 12th House of Dreams and Spirituality in March, your psyche may be the locus of much activity, growth, and potential challenges. This can be a good time to begin working with a therapist or to start meditating more.
Pluto moves into your 11th House of Networking and Groups from March through June, shaking up your friendship arena. You could grow fascinated by new people unlike those you normally socialize with. Be wary of this crowd, though. They may not have your best interests at heart. When Jupiter in your money zone squares Pluto in your friend zone on May 17, avoid giving any cash to groups or organizations you’re not sure of.
Love goddess Venus will retrograde in July, slowing down romantic matters for the summer. You may look back on relationships past. If you coincidentally run into an ex, it could change the course of the next few months. Sometimes dipping into the past feels healing, but sometimes it’s a way of holding onto something too long. During the eclipse season in October, you may realize which one of these options is true for you.
Home and family are a big focus for you this year. What that means is unclear, but these themes will have a dominant presence.
TAURUS
Any seeds that you plant in 2023 have the potential to grow big this year. So potentially big, you might look back at 2023 as being your most prosperous. year ever! u on, Saturn might pump the brakes
With Saturn moving into your 11th House of Friends, Networking, and Groups, your social life could start to feel a bit restrained around March 7. That may be in part because you’re growing out of your shell and want to relate with others who share your interests and views.
When Pluto enters Aquarius in March, your professional life takes center stage. The period between March and June shows you what it’s like to be truly respected in your field. In fact, you might become so inspired by becoming who you’re meant to be on the world stage that you entirely scrap your old job for a new one that better represents what you came to earth to do.
The Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio on May 5 hits your 7th House of Long-Term Relationships, potentially shaking up a personal or professional partnership. Alliances that have served their purpose may end. Try not to be overly resistant if you know that the time is right.
As you discover things that aren’t working any longer, it might feel like a weird time for your relationships. The upside is that you can dig into long-standing issues and heal them. Avoid big changes on the beauty front while Venus is retrograde. If you plan to change your look, do it before June or after October to steer clear of any regrets.
A powerful Lunar Eclipse in Taurus on October 28 sets you up for intense transformation, especially around issues that relate to your ego and the way you think others see you. Use this energy to love yourself, even the parts you think are less appealing. Venus enters your relationship zone on December 4, making the holiday season mega-romantic and helping you end the year on a decidedly delicious foot.
GEMINI
It’s time to reap the fruits of your dedication. You are increasingly recognized in your profession, but your finances don’t grow as much as your career does, ironically! I mean, money is not lacking, but it is not abundant. If you want to earn more, work overtime or find a second job. That said, with Saturn moving into your 10th House of Professional Prowess and powerful Pluto altering the landscape of your 9th House of Philosophy, it’s important to make sure your work feels enriching and meaningful. Grinding away at something blah just for a paycheck just isn’t good enough anymore.
Pluto, the planet of slow, life-altering transformation, is in your long-distance travel zone between March and June. That means you’re likely to feel more curious about different cultures. You might even meet someone from a walk of life completely alien to yours, only to discover that you feel completely at home with them. Or maybe you’ll be called to take a big trip.
Jupiter moves into your 12th House of Secrets, Psyche, and Unconscious Thoughts in May. Trusting your gut and listening to your heart is essential now. And it’s also easier because your mind won’t get in the way as much. You could discover a book or coaching system that impacts your life positively for the long haul.
Your ruler Mercury will be in retrograde four times this coming year. Prepare accordingly by giving yourself time to slow down, triple-check your schedule, and communicate with extra care. In the end, Mercury Retrograde phases are far more enriching than their troubling reputation would have you believe — they give you a chance to review, reflect, and restart.
This trickster planet will be retrograde in your sign and transformation zone the first three weeks of the year until January 18. So of all the retrograde periods in 2023, this one will require special attention. During this time, you might want to look closely at the ways you give your power away by making yourself sound smaller than you really are. This is not the year to scatter your energy, Gemini. Get clear on what you want to do, and DO it!
CANCER
The year brings new friendships. Your social group may change, and you’ll be happier for it. But what really stands out is this: your financial life is prosperous. There is money all around you, and there’s a chance of promotion, too. Your friends and colleagues are there to support you in this.
In fact, as I mentioned, this year, you have many friends all around you. It’s a happy year for love.
When Saturn shifts into your 9th House of Philosophy and Travel in March, you’ll gain some meaningful lessons about your relationship with the world at large. Any limiting beliefs you’re holding onto may be challenged during this time, so keep an open mind to learning new ways of doing things. With slow-moving, change-agent Pluto moving into your 8th House of Sexuality and Regeneration during the same month, you’re in for the intimate awakening of a lifetime. This year, you’re looking both within and without — and taking it all seriously.
In fact, this year, you’re interested more than ever in the mystical side of life. You might study Astrology or the Paranormal. Great insights into your life come from this dive into the occult!
Jupiter brings a light break just when you need it in May. The planet opens the doors of your 11th House of Groups and Networking. So say yes to the cocktail hours and dinner parties with colleagues and peers, since they’ll likely bring all-around expansion to your goals and life outside the home. But just remember to schedule in downtime!
LEO
Your strength is in your profession this year, and you reap good results from work. There is an opportunity to change jobs or get promoted. In fact, your career gets a major boost when Jupiter moves into your 10th House of Professional Progress on May 16. This is a rare opportunity to grow your brand and extend your professional reach.
With lucky Jupiter on your side, it’s a great time to network in your industry and make proposals you thought might be rejected. Do this especially in early June, when the North Node joins Jupiter. The universe is supporting your success and your accomplishments could feel like a renewable resource for the rest of the year. Bring that creative flair to whatever you do, Leo!
There’s plenty of romance in the air this year, too. But with responsible Saturn moving into your 8th House of Sexual and Emotional Intimacy in March, you’re entering an intense phase during which you may reexamine what it means to connect with another human soul-to-soul. Are some of the boundaries you put up actually walls? Facing your fears can bring you closer to a lover and to yourself.
This will be most useful when Pluto enters your 7th House of Significant Partnerships later in March. This begins a long process where your relationships will undergo a long haul of serious regeneration. Get ready for your alliances to change for the better.
VIRGO
This year, it’s time to get serious about the direction your life is taking. For example?
When Saturn goes into your 7th House of One-to-One Partnerships in March, you could get super serious about a commitment. This might mean having a child, delving deeper into a relationship, or signing an important contract. In any case, don’t rush. You’re about to make an important decision, and you need to go slow, and really think about it.
Pluto moves into your 6th House of Work and Daily Activities in March. This initiates a long period of deep transformation around what you choose to do with your days. Work could be a major theme here, potentially pushing you to question whether the day job you have is still right for you. On the other hand, habits and patterns that don’t serve you may also need an upgrade.
It’s one of those moments when it helps to ask yourself, “Where do I see myself in five years?” If the answer requires completely altering your schedule in favor of work that nourishes your soul, then make some calls. You may find that a humanitarian venture is calling your name.
Pluto returns to your love zone in June for a short period, giving you the opportunity to complete any unfinished business in the romantic realm. Wrap it up now so it doesn’t haunt you later, Virgo.
LIBRA
Get ready to experience love in 2023! This year, relationships are a major focus. But you’ll need to figure out how to make time for both love and your workaday world. Saturn’s arrival to your 6th House of Work and Self-Improvement in early March can bring a bit of stress into your schedule. Once you learn how to manage this, you’ll feel the gains. This could mean that you suddenly get offers for more work or that your job changes in a way that better suits your lifestyle.
Pluto also switches signs in March, moving into Aquarius and your 5th House of Love, Pleasure, and Play for the first and only time in your life. Between March 23 and June 11, you’ll begin to get a taste of a deep change coming toward your romantic life. This might mean meeting someone new, or perhaps your current relationship will be shaken to the core. But don’t worry: paired with lucky Jupiter’s presence in your 7th House of Significant Partnerships through May, the good should outweigh the bad.
That said, the Total Solar Eclipse in Aries on April 20 hits your partnership zone and may shake up a personal or professional relationship. This is the first in a new series of eclipses that will hit your career and relationship houses over the next few years. Pay attention to any insights you gain around how you want to relate with others.
You’ve not been in the best of health, mentally or physically, over the past few months. But luckily, 2023 calls for an improvement there. Use that extra vitality to focus on your relationships that matter the most.
SCORPIO
This year promises big changes. At home, at work, in love….
But at the start of the year, Mars and Mercury will still be retrograde, so you may not feel like making any big moves until after January 18. Use this timeframe as an extension of your New Year’s resolution planning period. If you have to travel or make any big decisions, give yourself some padding in case things get complicated.
Pluto shifts into your 4th House of Home and Family on March 23, digging up your roots. Becoming who you’re meant to be requires understanding where you came from. This is the beginning of a long period where you may be inspired to uncover your family history and transform the emotional patterns that have been passed down through the generations.
So when are those major changes coming, you ask? Well, the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse on May 5 is the last in a series of eclipses in your own sign. You might have been on a deep journey of inner change that’s led you to become more of your authentic self in the last few years. This is the culmination point. Let go of any heaviness you’re still carrying, and purge anything toxic out of your life for good.
And here’s the big news that might shake up your life completely! Jupiter goes into your 7th House of Partnerships in May for the first time in 12 years. This can enhance any existing relationships. OR a potential new sweetheart may walk into your life. One you’d like to get quite serious with. Let’s see!
The blessings of Jupiter will likely bode well for either your personal or professional life, especially if you decide to get engaged, tie the knot, or sign a contract with a new business partner. Watch for big developments on this front this year!
SAGITTARIUS
The year is focused on new knowledge. It’s time to study more and specialize deeper. This could be educating yourself professionally, spiritually, or emotionally. For example?
Saturn shifts into your 4th House of Home and Family on March 23. It’s a great time to dig up your roots. For you, becoming who you’re meant to be requires understanding where you came from. Uncover your family history and transform any negative emotional patterns that have been passed down through the generations. Discover your origins using a DNA kit, or learn more about your early childhood conditioning while this planet visits this part of your chart.
March brings Pluto into your 3rd House of Communication for the first and only time in your life. This is a colossal change that can stir your mind in ways it’s never experienced. Your natural affinity for big ideas can turn a little obsessive, making you want to read anything and everything.
At the same time, the way you talk and think might blow some people’s minds. Your now inclined to think way, way outside of the box right now. Whatever you say, people will listen and feel changed by it.
While you’re digging deeply into your newfound interests, Jupiter, your sign’s ruler, distracts you from that a bit. When it enters your 6th House of Work, Health, and Duties in mid-May, this fun planet lightens up the more routine aspects of your daily life.
How so? Well, you might expand the scope of the work that you do, or perhaps you’ll find another job that feels like a better fit. In any case, you’ll feel more joy in your daily routines, and you’ll feel like you’re pretty much capable of doing anything.
CAPRICORN
Lots of shake ups in your routine. There’s little interest in you career; novelty for a Capricorn! The focus of the year for you is to have more fun and enjoy life to the max. Headmaster Saturn, your sign’s guide and ruler, shifts into your 3rd House of Communication on March 7. So push past the insecurities that have held you back from launching a blog, writing a memoir, or just sharing what you’re passionate about.
When Pluto enters your 2nd House of Finances and Resources, get ready to redefine your entire relationship with money and values. If you want to grow in your profession, specialize. The idea is to manage your budget and your profession better in order to stay afloat. There is no lack of money, but it is not the most prosperous year in your life.
Home, self and family are important themes in 2023. Transformer Pluto has been in your 1st House of Self since 2008, slowly eroding all the masks you wear. When it finally leaves your sign on March 23, you may embrace an entirely new sense of who you are. Confidence is strengthened. You might move into a new neighborhood or renovate the entire house to better suit your new sense of self.
When Jupiter enters your 5th House of Love, Pleasure, and Creativity mid-May, expect more romance for the remainder of the year. Your appreciation for the finer things in life will be finely attuned, making it a great time to ‘nest’ into your home and focus more on your relationships.
AQUARIUS
With Pluto moving into your sign for the first and only time this century, you feel very powerful. Your financial intuition is sharp, and more cash flows in 2023. On March 7, Saturn enters your 2nd House of Money and Values. It’s time to plan your future by making some solid investments. There may be a job change, and if so, it will be positive. Success is in the air!
In March, Pluto enters your home sign and 1st House of Self. This is monumental. Pluto’s presence may slowly yet permanently change you, ending patterns that no longer serve you. You may change the way you communicate and feel renewed. You might change homes or buy a property.
New ways of thinking rock your world, and they attract new people, as well as some who return from your past. Or, you can attract people into your life who you feel like you’ve known before. I’m talking about people who are supposed to be by your side. But take care! A Total Solar Eclipse stirs your 3rd House of Communication on April 20. You might misspeak, and be accused of being harsh or insensitive. Find a way to express yourself with more compassion.
Jupiter moves into your 4th House of Home, Family, and Ancestral Roots in May. If you’ve been considering a move, there are now opportunities to find your dream home, or to move in with someone you care about. You might also feel nostalgic, wanting to spend time with family, or revise old photos.
But that’s just mid-year. The rest of 2023 is all about moving forward with big changes, Aquarius. Just be sure you take care of your health. These shake-ups are powerful! Be sure you’re well fed, exercised and rested so you can best deal with them.
PISCES
The year it’s all about your mind, intellect and mental health, Pisces. Trusting your intuition is more important now than ever before. 2023 is a time to build necessary boundaries and do a bit of self-reflection.
This all really kicks off when Saturn visits your 1st House of Self starting on March 7. Your ego is shaken up, and demands that you fix any faults that may be eroding the foundations of your sense of self. If you’re paying attention though, Saturn will also give you hints on how to build a sturdier base, guiding you towards a clearer blueprint for who you should be in 2023. Pay close attention to any feelings of depression, and work hard to cultivate positivity. Don’t be afraid to seek help from a professional if necessary.
It’s not an easy year for you. You usually offer your friendship and love freely and completely, but you may learn that you need to preserve some energy for yourself. But this year, self-care could well be the most selfless thing you do. There’s no shame in that!
In March, Pluto moves into your 12th House of Secrets and Unconscious Thoughts for the first and only time in your life. Your psyche gets a major rousing, the likes of which you’ve never experienced before. Any old dreams or expectations that are not being fulfilled may need to be revised.
Your love life could be a bit confusing when Mercury Retrograde lands in your 7th House of Relationships from August 23 to September 15. Relationships might feel slightly off while the communication planet is retrograde. The upside is that this can reveal any weaknesses in your partnerships, which you can then work to fix.
