What if Disney Princesses’ Fashion Was Historically Accurate?

By Barbara Shultz

Belle, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty…they’re all babes, and all wear more or less the same thing: pinched waisted, full skirted, borderline sexy costumes. But these fashions are obviously ‘Disnified’ and hardly reflect the real styles that women would have worn at the time.

Fashionistas may wonder what each of these princesses would have worn if they really did exist in the historical context they’re presented in. In fact,  Buzzfeed was so keen to find out, they did some research–sometimes with surprising results!

Now we’d love to see the same kind of video, but this time showing the real makeup of the time…lead paint on Cinderella? Hennaed hands on Princess Jasmine? Bring it on…

Wow! I’m continually fascinated by this realistic and historical view of Disney princesses. The question at the end brings the reality to light, “Did they all live happily ever after?” Finding love is an adventure, but after you find what happens is even more interesting.
