I am constantly on the lookout for truly organic products, and so when I was contacted by Eviva Organics I was curious to try their makeup range, called Naturalmente. But when I learned that, as in my own personal case, it was also a cancer diagnosis that had led the creator of Eviva to taking an organic approach to well-being, I just knew that I was meant to share this story with the world.
Here’s what Eviva’s creator had to say about what inspired her to start the brand:
“The basis of my research into organic products began after my daughter was diagnosed with cancer at the age of three. This was an experience that altered our lives forever, and ultimately found my husband and I asking many difficult and unanswerable questions. I began an inquisition on everything from foods, to detergents, to make-up and skincare. I read every single label and learned as much as I could about ingredients and chemical. My goal was to improve our way of life with the food we ate and the variety of products we used.”
She continues: “After a while, my concerns began to shift towards the environment as well. Not only did I care about what we put on and in our bodies, I became mindful of issues such as sustainability, conservation, fair trade, genetic engineering, toxic waste etc. How we look after ourselves will ultimately affect this beautiful Earth of ours.”
Based on this philosophy, Eviva encompasses everything you would ever want from an organic skincare range, from the delightful presentation of each product to the quality, texture and scent of each item. The 100% organic and plant based cosmetic products are free from petrochemicals, synthetic fragrances, parabens, artificial dyes, SLS, SLES, DEA, formaldehyde, paraffin wax, propylene glycol, tetrasodium EDTA and other harmful chemicals. What’s more, their ingredients have been certified by ECOCERT (International Organic Certification Organisation).
The concept of ‘organic’ can be very hazy due to the fact that the word has been so often misused. In some countries, there is no regulation on the use of the word, which means companies can take advantage of this by slipping ‘organic’ in whatever way they can on their packaging. This is why it is important we read labels properly to understand and determine what actually is and isn’t authentically organic. Always look for a Certification logo and the percentage of organic ingredients contained in the product.
My Honest Opinion
The first product I tried was their black mascara, which I found to be gentle and non-irritating to my eyes. It is free of tar and effective in increasing and thickening your lashes. Rich in botanical waxes, it also contains Jojoba oil, which ensures glossy lashes, and organic glycerin, which provides moisturising properties.
The treatment lip gloss is formulated to provide moisturising effects. It is a “non-sticky” formulation and can be applied over lipstick or lip pencil. Esters of sunflower oil are added for softening and revitalising lips, and organic sweet almond oil has excellent soothing properties for chapped lips–a perfect product for cold winters.
All in all, I absolutely love this makeup range, and promise that once you try Eviva’s products your search for an organic makeup range will be over.
