Tried and Tested: 3 Natural Anti Ageing Products

By Eluxe Staff

All of us here at Eluxe want to maintain a youthful glow forever and ever. What woman doesn’t? But of course, we here are a bit wary of chemical packed cosmetics and injected muscle toxins–wouldn’t those do more harm than good in the long run?

We’ve decided to take a more natural approach, and three of us have tried and tested three very different natural anti ageing techniques, with varying results. Here’s what we found.

deCURE Non-Injectable Fillers

By Arwa Lodhi

I first heard about this (rather pricey) Scandinavian brand from when our Editor mentioned it to me–our Beauty expert, Sophia Hussain, told her these were products that ‘injected’ natural beauty without painful toxic injections.  Being a bit of a needlephobe myself, the Swedish brand’s claim to make you look 10 years younger in five minutes was extremely appealing.

deCure is also a cult product, with followers raving about the stuff. It’s Eluxe-friendly, being free from parabens and harsh chemicals, and comes packed with natural anti-aging ingredients including Aloe Vera, hyaluronic acid (the stuff Restylene is made of), vitamins A, C and E, blueberry and cranberry extracts, rosehip, green tea, Rooibos, seaweeds, and sea algae.

The products come in a pre-filled “no-tox” syringe vial, and the literature that accompanies the product claims it will imitate the effects Restylane and other skin fillers. A high claim indeed! And what’s more, buying one of these luxury creams isn’t enough–they suggest first purchasing the PUR 3 Skin Booster to improve collagen production, then applying the Deep Acting Serum and finally the Anti-Wrinkle Cream to fill in fine lines.

I could only afford two products (they are over £100 each, and the containers are small!), and opted for the Skin Booster and Anti-Wrinkle Cream, using them both nightly for four weeks before writing this review.

The products are good, gentle, non-irritating and do seem to have a temporary plumping effect on the skin—immediately! However, they do need to be reapplied frequently to maintain this plumper look. I do believe I have seen some improvement in my skin over the past month, but the products are now completely gone, which means if I want to maintain this look, I will be spending about £2oo a month.

If you can afford it, I’d recommend this as part of your nightly routine. Otherwise, actual fillers are probably cheaper in the long run.

Furlesse Strips

By Candice Marie Litchfield

Every woman wants to look good and in order to do that we take care of our skin by using the best products on it. However, no matter how much we take care of our skin the natural effects of aging are always kicking in. Many of us do not want to do anything as drastic as plastic surgery or Botox but we still want results. Luckily there is a great alternative and that is Furlesse patches. These patches come in the form of small strips that are excellent in helping to remove and lessen the deep lines of wrinkles.

There are  four different Furlesse strips: the row, lip-sticks, crows, and elevens.

  • the row is for the area just above your eye brows

  • the lip-sticks is the area around your mouth aka laugh line.

  • the crow is the area on the sides of your eyes

  • the elevens is the area that bridge your nose and eyebrow more commonly referred to as the T zone area

The strips are easy to use. Wash and then dry your face so that your skin is clean. After you dry your skin then open the package and take out the Furlesse patch and apply it to the targeted area. The patches should be worn when you’re ready to go to bed. Once you wake, remove the patch and wash your skin. simply and dry your skin.

If you sleep on your side normally, you will probably notice results immediately after one use of the Furlesse patch.  Your skin will look smoother and more youthful, as mine did–for a few hours, at least. The idea is that the patches avoid the wrinkles you can by sleeping with your face squashed against a pillow. They do not stop muscle movement, like Botox does, so if you have strong facial expressions that cause lines, these may not be strong enough for you. But if you find yourself waking up with a frown, Furless is the perfect product!

Nature Perfect Anti-Ageing System

By Chere Di Boscio

Rose Water. Rhassoul Clay. Rosehip Oil. Strawberry Powder.

These are ingredients that have been used by women for centuries to stave off the ageing process, and Nature Perfect believes that what worked then, can also work now.

In order for these ingredients to work on your skin and have a positive anti-ageing effect, three key things must be done: you should follow a healthy diet, containing lots of water, fruits and vegetables; stay out of the sun, and undertake this beauty routine regularly.

Having checked off the first two for several years now, I embarked on the Nature Perfect beauty regimen, following this routine nightly, with a mask twice a week.

First, I gently washed my face with my usual cleanser and toned with the organic Damask Rose Spray. It smells just as you would imagine, and leaves a dewy, not astringent, finish. I would then completely my nightly routine massaging Rosehip Oil into my face. Though this has ‘rose’ in the name, it smells rather vegetably and left a slightly heavy finish on my skin, which I initially thought would rub off on my pillow (it didn’t).

Rosehip Oil is something of a natural miracle product for skin. It has been used for generations by the Andean Indians who recognised centuries ago that Rosehip oil had exceptional healing skin care and hair care benefits. It’s brimming with natural nutrients and vitamins and it has the ability to diminish pigmentation, wrinkles, scars and sun damage. It’s so pure, it can be used both externally and taken internally, but it’s so delicate, it needs to be stored in dark bottles, away from the sun. I have high hopes what this oil can do for me over the long term, and I’m not the only one–apparently Victoria’s Secret model Miranda Kerr and pop singer Taylor Swift are also fans.

As for the mask, I initially tried the Rhassoul Clay, mixing it with a bit of the Damask Rose Spray to create a paste. This was a deep cleansing treatment, but my sensitive skin did feel a bit tight afterwards, requiring more Rosehip Oil afterwards to counteract the product. I had much more success with the Strawberry Powder. This was my first time ever using such a product, and I created a paste with a few drops of Rosehip Oil and left the mask on for 15 minutes. At the end, I swear my skin was left with less redness than before (I have a tendency towards going red around the nose and mouth.)

Having repeated the mask twice a week over time, I am not sure if the redness is disappearing due to the product, or the fact that the central heating is now off, but something is working for me!

Nature Perfect products are about as pure as beauty gets. The masks are simply in powder form, allowing the user to choose to make a mask with oil or rose water, depending on her needs. I felt the products were effective, if not necessarily for anti-ageing (only time will tell!) then at least for making your skin look fresher and, well, I guess younger too! These products may be super simple, but as your grandmother and probably her grandmother know–simple works.
