The best revenge against time is to age beautifully! Rather than looking exactly as they did at 20, smart women simply want to maintain a natural, youthful blemish-free, beautiful complexion. The good news is that it’s possible to combat the first signs of premature aging in your 20’s, 30’s, and even your 40’s, to help your face age beautifully for your future-self to appreciate and admire.

Signs of aging occur when elastin and collagen, a protein present in all the body’s organs and tissues, degrade over time and cause skin to lose its firmness, which then creates wrinkles. Certain factors, such as genetics, sun exposure, smoking, pollution and an unhealthy lifestyle strongly contribute to tired, wrinkled, older looking skin, and even skin cancer.

But following certain anti-aging skincare tips and including anti-aging products that contain collagen into your skincare regime are also of great benefit.

Secrets To Youthful Skin

Obviously, for example, you should stay out of the sun, which has a powerfully destructive effect on the skin’s cells. Ultraviolet (UV) light damages the fibers in the skin called elastin. When these fibers break down, the skin begins to sag, stretch, and lose its ability to go back into place after moving. The skin also bruises and tears more easily, taking longer to heal. So while sun damage to the skin may not be apparent when you’re young, it will definitely show later in life.

Furthermore, avoid pollution and cigarette smoke at all costs, as these create free radicals which attack the skin and organs. Many hear this term, but are not sure what it means: free radicals are electrically charged atoms or molecules that are known to cause cell damage and have been linked to a variety of health conditions, including heart disease and cancer. A free radical is a molecule that is missing an electron and thus structurally unstable. To gain stability, it interacts with other nearby molecules in healthy cells (such as DNA or airway cell membranes) and plunders them to get what it needs.

The body has a natural defence mechanism against free radicals in the form of antioxidants, substances that are known to have a number of health benefits. Antioxidants can safely interact with free radicals to stop their actions before vital cells are damaged. But the body doesn’t make antioxidants; they must be brought in through skincare products, as well as vitamins found in foods and supplements.

Keeping It Natural

While many mainstream brands on the market claim to help protect skin from the signs of time, many also contain chemicals such as propylene glycol, mineral oil, and TEA, which can actually accelerate signs of ageing in the long run.

According to Dr Gabriela Mercik, the famous London based aesthetic medicine expert who invented Glotox: “collagen based products or supplements are known to thicken hair, improve nail conditions, help fortify the immune system, balance blood sugar and improve sleep cycles. These supplements work more efficiently when paired with vitamin C, as it works in synergy with collagen for a more prevalent results. However, it is important to select one with the highest quality ingredients. If it is poorly absorbed, it will have zero effect.” Dr Gabriela also warns that taking collagen supplements or drinks can cause  gastrointestinal upset is some people – if that happens to you, keep it topical!

Here, we’ve found the best beauty products and supplements that have been scientifically formulated to help you combat the daily attack on your skin.  Now, put your best face forward as we preview an innovative selection of collagen boosting skincare that really works!

Natural Collagen Boosting Skincare Supplements

Beauty starts from the inside out. Avoid white flour, sugar and fried foods, all of which cause inflammation and break down collagen. Instead, eat a balanced diet rich in anti-oxidising superfoods like blueberries, goji berries, and prunes, and lean proteins like white fish, tofu and egg whites. Essential acids, found in salmon, walnuts and flax seed can deliver the fatty acids that make skin plump, while green tea is a great all-round hydrator and free-radical fighter. For an extra boost, try a skin-enhancing supplement. And even chocolate!

Esthechoc

Causing an international beauty frenzy was created by Cambridge University scientists, Esthechoc is an anti-ageing dark chocolate enriched with potent algae extracts for youthful skin, including astaxanthin which has been proven to stimulate collagen production. Clinical trials showed that with daily consumption, this chocolate  protects the skin from ageing, and contributes to healthy, glowing smooth skin – with visible results in three weeks.

Tone It Up Creamer

What’s the one thing you probably drink every day? Coffee, right? It’s easy to add a collagen boost to your daily cuppa with something a bit unexpected. Adding collagen creamer to coffee is about as close as you’re going to get to turning your morning cup of java into a swig from the fountain of youth.

Collagen creamers are full of the amino acids that your body uses to produce proteins. As a result, making the switch from ordinary creamer to a collagen product can reduce signs of skin aging, strengthen hair growth and take care of joint pain. Actually looking younger and healthy just by making a small change to your coffee routine sounds pretty good! And the best part? This comes in two flavours: vanilla or chocolate.

As the skin here is very sensitive, many products can be irritating.

Luckily, we’ve found Kahina Giving’s Eye Cream! This award winning formula is packed with highly concentrated Vitamin E, Argan Oil and Green Tea to boost collagen production and decrease puffiness. The Organic Pharmacy Rose Plus Collagen Booster

This certified organic serum is designed to be a highly intensive treatment. It claims to be able to make skin look ten years younger in just over 40 days by boosting collagen and elastin production. Its main active ingredients include Hibiscus Abelmoschus extract, which stimulates cell multiplication and GAG synthesis.

The brand explains that this all works because elastin is made up of 2 key elements; Soluble elastin and microfibrils. This unique extract activates the synthesis of elastin fibres and prevents bad cross linking. Skin moisture levels improved immediately and long term. Skin texture is refined.

There’s also Marine Collagen, Chondroitin, Sodium Hyaluronate and Ursolic Acid. The former three ingredients act on skin elasticity and reduce the depth of wrinkles. The latter ingredient works on improving your skin’s smoothness through collagen and GAG synthesis. A unique mixture of other plant based extracts also work wonders. Kigelia Africana is known for its firming qualities. Calendula Officinalis is great for healing and cell renewal. New Zealand Fern provides instant firming, and Goji Berries repair damage and protect the skin from free radicals.

  1. I only use natural products on my face. I am allergic to many ingredients, but I wanted a natural product with collagen AND hyaluronic acid. I now exclusively use the Somaluxe Renewal Serum – it has the collagen and the hyaluronic acid I was looking for, and all natural ingredients This is why I decided to try your product.

It keeps my facial skin soft, pores closed and moisturized. I don’t have any wrinkles anymore , even though I’ m 52.

  2. Hi,
It’s refreshing to see skincare and skin aging blogs that include care for the lips. I’ve recently noticed fine lines on the side of my mouth, and my lips are getting thinner by the day. I’ll have a go with that Lip Plumping Butter and hope it works for me. Thanks for sharing!

  3. I really like what you guys are up too. This kind of clever work and coverage!
Keep up the terrific works guys I’ve included you guys to our blogroll.

  4. I’m a total convert to Made From Earth skin care products. For years I was seduced by the belief the more money I spent the better results I’d get… Wrong! I tweet about High Street fashion & beauty so Made From Earth products caught my eye about a year ago and now I’m a total convert. I have noticed a massive difference to my skin /lips /body and my bank balance as they are brilliantly affordable but seem to use very good ingredients
